MODEL BUILDING BLOCKS

Influences
This is a relationship between two parameters. It means that when one changes, the other will change in the same way. In other words, if one goes up, the other goes up. If one goes down, the other goes down.

The influences relationship doesn't cause anything to go up or down all by itself, it just passes along the change. In order to get something to change you need a process and an increases or a decreases link.

The influences link doesn't have to be the only thing going to a parameter. Other influences links or opposite influences links canS go to the same parameter. But no parameter can have both an indirect (influences or opposite influences) link and a direct link (increases or decreases) at the same time.

Example: The amount of time I spend studying influences my grades. The more I study, the higher my grades. The less I study, the lower my grades.
