The Model Target
The model target is the thing you are trying to explain with the model.
Models exist to answer questions. A Vmodel model is used to explain why something behaves the way it does over time. Your model can show why something increases, decreases or stays the same over time. Your model target should state what is changing and how it is changing. For example:
The level of the water in Lake Michigan is going down.
You make the target in target mode, but it will show up at the top of your model panel in all modes. (See picture.)
Check your model target when you make a prediction in your model. If your model target is explaining a specific change, make your prediction match that change. That lets the professor give you feedback about whether your model explains what its supposed to explain.
