UNDERSTANDING VMODEL

HOW DOES A VMODEL MODEL EXPLAIN A CHANGE?

Every Vmodel model should explain at least one change. They do this by showing how the processes in the model change things, either directly or indirectly. The change should have something to do with your model target.

All changes start at processes. Processes are connected to parameters using increases or decreases arrows. When you make a Vmodel model, you show how processes increase or decrease the parameters of the basic objects in your model. For example, the process growing changes the height of a plant.

Changes can get passed along with influences arrows.

Sometimes, when one thing goes up, another thing that is related to it goes up too. For example, the taller the plant gets, the longer its shadow is. You show these relationships using the influences and opposite influences arrows.

Notice that the influences arrows don't cause changes, they just pass them along. The only way to get one to change is to use a process and an increases or a decreases arrow. All changes in Vmodel models start at processes!
